What a fantastic night we had on Saturday performing at the beautiful Derr House on the stunning Swinton Estate in Yorkshire.
The occasion was a birthday celebration for Steve, and the theme for the evening was “Icons” – which made for one of the most entertaining and colourful crowds we’ve played for in a long time. From the moment we arrived, guests were embracing the theme in style. Everywhere you looked there were famous faces from music, television and popular culture. We spotted Freddie Mercury, Madonna, Father Ted and plenty of other legendary characters enjoying the celebrations, all helping to create a brilliant atmosphere throughout the evening.
The venue itself was spectacular. Nestled within the Swinton Estate, Derr House provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable party. It’s always a pleasure to perform in such a unique setting, and the combination of a beautiful venue, great company and plenty of energy on the dance floor made for a very special event.
As soon as we got started, the dance floor filled up and stayed busy all night. The guests brought incredible energy from the first song to the last, singing along, dancing and fully embracing the party spirit. There’s nothing better for a band than playing to a crowd that is up for a good time, and Steve’s guests certainly didn’t disappoint. Everyone was so welcoming and enthusiastic, making it a real pleasure to be part of the celebrations.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Steve and all of his family and friends for having us. It was wonderful to help celebrate such a milestone birthday and to see so many people having such a great time together.
Of course, no gig story would be complete without a little adventure on the journey home. After packing up and setting off for Blackpool, we somehow managed to take a wrong turn. What should have been a straightforward trip turned into a rather scenic tour of Yorkshire and Lancashire, adding a fair bit of extra mileage to the evening. By the time we finally arrived back in Blackpool, the journey had stretched to around three and a half hours! Not quite the quick drive we had planned, but thankfully the memories of such a brilliant night made it all worthwhile.
Thanks again to everyone who joined us at Derr House. We had an absolute blast and wish Steve a very happy birthday. Here’s to many more nights filled with great music, packed dance floors and unforgettable memories.
